The feast to the Lord of Coyllority takes place at the foot of the Ausangate mountain and it is celebrated the first week of May.
The festival starts on the day of the Holy Trinity, when more than 10,000 pilgrims climb to the shrine of Sinakara.
The ritual consists on a curious wandering Where the shepherds go to the Sinakara sanctuary. A procession goes along the road to the shrine with fireworks and along the road you can fin find the market of Alacitas. All this is accompanied by different dancers with green beans, Colla, pabluchas or Ukukus symbolizing various mythical characters. The Ukukus are the watchmen of the Lords, both as Apus and cairns (piles of stones placed by the pilgrims, the manner of sins atoned for), and maintaining discipline during the litúrgic events s. A strong willed group, disguised as pabluchas, left for the snowy peaks in search of the Snow Star which is enclosed in her womb. Returning to their communities, these strong men carry on their backs large blocks of ice to water their land symbolically with the sacred water of Ausangate.
