  1. The Cathedral of Cusco is located at the northeast corner of the Plaza de Armas of the Imperial City, on land that formed part of the ancient Inca palace Wiracocha.
The Cathedral of Cusco is one of the most remarkable monuments of colonial America, its interior floor is shaped like a Latin cross, with cruises that connect with its ,two churches side. The Church of Triumph to the east and the Church of Sagrada Familia westward has three ship, the middle one, the "epistle" east and "Gospel Ship" to the west. Today to visit the monument, is entered through the door of the "Church of Triumph"
Today, in the central columns of the church is seen an incomplete collection of twelve original paintings depicting the parables of Christ with the twelve months of the year, the four seasons and zodiacal signs, painted around 1681 by the painter Diego Quispe Tito.

  3. hi:

the most interesting and beautiful place in my town, is the andahuylillas church.

andahuaylillas church is known as the Sistine Chapel of America, the church must have been built in the late sixteenth century, the Jesuits were in charge

the main attraction of the church is the mural painting, that is everywhere, the paintings are very beautiful with gold edges

Inside the church is very beautiful with the presence of many paintings and sculptures in wood, the main canvas is the painting of the Virgin Mary rosary made by Diego Quispe Tito.

the most interesting is that one can see the mural at the entrance, which shows the left side the road to hell and right the way to heaven. The mural was painted by Rian.

    the admission is free.

  5. Hi George Sweet.
I´m going to talk about the Company church. This church is situated plaza de armas and its foundations contain stones from the palace of Huayna Capac, the last Inca to rule and undivided, unconquered Empire.
Thevchurch was built by the Jesuits, his name is the curch of the company of jesus.
The work commenced in1650 earthquake but resconstruction began almost immediately.
The jesuits planned to make this the most maginificent church in Cusco, however the Bishop of Cusco complained that its splendour should not rival that of the Cathedral and finally Pope Paul III was called upon to arbitrate. His decision was in favour of the Cathedral but by the time the final word reached Cusco, la Compania was almost complete. It has an incredible baroque facade and is one of the most ornate churchs in Cusco. The interior has the usualarray of fine paintings and richly carved alters Two large canvases near the main door show early marriages in Cusco and are noteworthy for theirb wealth of period detail.

  6. More than 3000 years old the support to be considered as the oldest existing town in America. Cusco, and its cultural and geographical diversity, avatars have suffered and enjoyed through the years that have made a historic center of study and the most important tourist center in the country.

Opinions differ as to the first inhabitants of the city. Some say it was the people of Marcavalle Sawasiras or tribes, Antasayas and Wall, which formerly inhabited the valley. Others are based on the Inca mythology, which gives Pachakuteq Manko Qhapaq and the founding of the city. There is no certainty for any of those positions, what does exist is a lot of pre-ceramic samples that support the old title assigned to the city.

  12. hi George Sweet
when you are here you can visit the church of San Blas that is located on the famous San Blas neighborhood also called 'artistic quarter`.
In the Plaza de San Blas is a church that was built over an Inca shrine dedicated to the cult of "Illapa" (God of thunder, lightning and thunder). Possibly first opened in 1544 by the second Bishop Juan Solano. Although some other versions say that was opened after 1559 by the viceroy Andres Hurtado de Mendoza's order. Has just one door and two columns and a stone tower to the bell.
One of the greatest jewels of colonial art from around the continent is in this church is the pulpit of San Blas is a filigree made in cedar wood. It is not known with certainty who were the artists or artist and how long did the work and any other details on this, but the pulpit is a silent witness to a Catholic devotion.
admission is completely free and this church is one of the beautiful of Cusco, I hope you can visit.

  13. Hi George:
I'm really happy that you want to visit my town. I will say that in Cusco, the Inca and Spanish archeology and traditions meet. In Cusco can be found, many churches, Inca temples, monuments and mansions made of carved stones.
Among these buildings the most important are the Inca Palaces: Pachacutec, Wiracocha and Huayna Capac, the cathedral built in barroque style, the "Iglesia d la compañia" one of the most beautiful churches in America, the Santa catalina Convent
But for me the Santo Domingo Convent and the Religius Art Museumis the place you should not miss, by that Spanish chroniclers say that this was one of the most striking buildings of the Inca Cusco. Inside, the finely polished stone walls looked completely covered with sheets of gold and silver idols representing various and mainly, the sun king.
Was Juan Pizarro, brother of the conqueror, who gave in to the site of the temple congregation, after we have received in the distribution of plots that occurred in October 1534.Largos years he served this community was built, until its official dedication in 1633.
The bell tower was built between 1729 and 1731 and is one of the few buildings of importance Cusco dating from the eighteenth century.
    The convent:
At the gate of the convent draw attention to a motif murals "grotesque" that decorate the vaults of the roof ridge.
    The Temple of the Sun:
In two of the sides of the cloister, the colonial building has been cleared to expose the temples surrounding the main shrine. They are beautiful buildings of stone, pierced with niches and trapezoidal openings, where they worshiped the moon, lightning, thunder and rainbows.
    The museum:
Worth visiting the esplanade of Koricancha, recovered in recent years, and end the visit at the site museum which displays archaeological finds made during recent excavations in the area.
The monastery has a valuable art gallery with paintings of the XVII and XVIII. It also highlights images of saints like St. John Masias, San Martin de Porres, St. Rose of Lima and the Virgen del Rosario, among others.
I hope to see you soon.
    Kisses.

Existed in that place a palace called Amarukancha Hernando Pizarro was granted after the Spanish invasion. Years later the property was bought from the heirs of the conquistador Diego de Silva, who donated it to the Jesuits after their arrival in this city, so they can build them a church.

The church has the most beautiful facade of the churches of the city. At the main entrance is the carved marble Virgin Immaculate Conception.
Inside the church is a High Altar was carved in cedar wood, was also completely gilded with gold flakes.

To the south is the Chapel of St. Ignatius Loyola and the building of the Universidad Nacional San Antonio Abad del Cusco. This building originally served the University of San Ignacio de Loyola who was part of the University of Transfiguration. After the Jesuits were expelled from the building served as army barracks where he was imprisoned. Jose Gabriel Tupac Amaru.

  18. Hello Goerge Sweet.
Firstly, I'd like to you know that I'm so grateful you will visit my town, I'm sure you'll love it. Well there are many beautiful buildings which you can visit here, like churches, museums and ancient incas temples.
I'm going to describe you Sacsayhuaman temple, that I think is the most wonderful building in Cusco. It's located in the vicinity of Cusco, near main square.
Acording to etnohistorical developments, the construction began about 1438 during Pachacutec government and was finished a century after by Huayna Capac, during all that time it was designed by three diferent architects.
For many archaeologists and historians, the "ceremonial fortress" of Sacsayhuaman with its megalithic walls, it's the most architectural work performed at the Incas time. It has a puma's head form and someones think it had a lake.
The building itself is peculiar, because some of the stones that are there are giants and make you wonder how that managed to carry. The stones were fitted with a precision almost unimaginable. It is inexplicable to the Western figure out how the Incas were able to cut gems with such mastery that not even enter the blade of a knife between two stones. The complex also consists of a large species of stone slides where visitors can slide. The velvety softness of the stone stands out in these formations. There are figures designed in the rocks and stones, entrances to tunnels or Chicano, amphitheaters, constructions of ritual, probably related to the worship of water. This site played an important role in Inca ritual activities.
Also you can get a lovely view of Cusco town from Sacsayhuaman and you could enjoy a very pure air or camping around there, the lanscape is so beautiful.
It's free to go in, but you should pay for a guide to enjoy it better.
