Machu Picchu is on the List of World Heritage of UNESCO since 1983 as part of a whole cultural and eco-known Historic Sanctuary. Machu Picchu has been given lots of deserved titles and awards. The most recent award was given on July 7, 2007 when Machu Picchu was elected one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World; a private initiative of New Open World Corporation (NOWC), established by Swiss Bernard Weber, did not need the endorsement of any institution or government to continue its electoral purposes to select The New Seven Wonders of the Modern World which drew the attention of about one hundred million voters all around the World. http://ping.fm/CMLau
